When we first got started, we had a handful of cows that I had bottle-raised, no bull. Finally, we found one person willing to rent us one of his bulls –
Fast forward a few years, we have Rufus, who so far, is 3 out 4 for bull calves. The two below are our most recent.
We have a small but growing operation, driven by big dreams, full of heart and all for the glory of God.
The hardest part of this – the actual working part, is selling. I get attached to these babies.
But I’m learning to accept that we can’t keep them all.
✔️ Cows
Now if only for the puppies, and the horses? Eventually?
Speaking of selling – these two were born (left bull calf, solid red with a few cream colored spots) 09/26 and (right calf, motley face) 10/04.
They are both braford (bull) x braford (cow). If anyone is looking for a hardy bull that will throw color, here are 2 to chose from – if not, they’ll be castrated and off to the sale barn in the Spring.
Rufus is quite a character. He’s just over 2 and half years old and has produced his first 4 babies this year. We are so proud of this young man, he’s such a gentleman, and built like a tank. You can’t see it in this picture, but he’s solid.
Rufus’ first, a bull calf, born in March 26. Braford (bull) x brangus (cow).
Then Chocolate Chip, Rufus’ second, a heifer, finally – praise the Lord. These two are joining the herd. Much to the chagrin of – everyone – I really wanted to keep Kingpin. “You don’t need” 2 bulls … well, need?? Who worries about “need”. But it worked out, he’ll be put out with his own group up of new Flying KLK ladies next year while Rufus stays with the founding ladies.
Rufus’ second, a heifer calf, born in May 26. Braford (bul) x brangus (cow).
09/27/26 braford (red bull) x braford (brown cow, faint tigerstriped) Solid bull calf, with a few cream colored spots, but other than that – he’s a solid peanut butter red. He’s scheduled to be cut unless we sell him as a bull prospect first.
10/04/26 braford (bull) x braford (black brockelled cow, faint tigerstripes) Motley faced bull calf. He’s scheduled to be cut too unless we sell him as a bull prospect first.
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
